Hey, I’m Maddy. I am heading into my second year of studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy on the Albury-Wodonga campus. I am also excited to introduce myself as the new president of the Charles Sturt University Albury-Wodonga Run Club, alongside vice-president Abby Wason!

The Charles Sturt University Albury-Wodonga Run Club was established just last year, 2024, by our first president Abi as she aimed to share her love of running and wanted to create a strong community that incorporated movement and mental clarity.

In my first year of uni I joined the Run Club as a way to ensure I maintained consistent exercise throughout the week and gain accountability for myself. But honestly, it turned out to be so much more than that.

Joining the Run Club helped me meet some amazing people and form friendships I never would have made otherwise.

I have established connects with many people from various courses, different year levels who live both on and off campus, which has been a great way to gain advice and form a larger community than my usual uni cohort.

Each week, we meet for a morning sunrise run or walk through scenic routes on and around campus.

The inclusive, positive, and supportive environment ensures everyone feels comfortable and motivated to take part, this feeling is added to by the safety of running in a large group in a good area.

Personally, I’ve found that running with a group has not only kept me motivated to get out of bed in the morning but also made the experience way more enjoyable.

You will find your people to run or walk alongside at different paces to help push yourself or have a quiet reset walk and chat.

After our runs, we finish with a trip to a local coffee shop for a well-deserved coffee and a good chat. It’s the perfect way to unwind, vent about uni or life stresses, share some laughs, and celebrate a great start to the day.

Now in 2025, we aim to continue our weekly runs and further grow the Run Club community on the Albury/Wodonga campus.

We plan to provide more opportunities to engage in activities and events as a Run Club to build that team spirit, inspire even more students to join us and keep things exciting.

So, if you love running, want to make some new friends, or just enjoy a social outing, we’d love to have you join us at the Charles Sturt University Albury-Wodonga Run Club in 2025.
