Here are some of my biggest tips to stay in the warm and out of the cold this Winter!
Getting Ice off your Windscreen
Covering your windscreen at night is essential. Using an old towel or two and laying it over your windscreen can reduce the amount of frost and ice on your windscreen of a morning. Starting your car a few minutes earlier of a morning before you leave, it melts most of the ice and makes it safer for you to drive with the morning frost.

Warm Meals
During wintertime, warm meals are the highlight of my day. I meal prep to ensure that I don’t have to rush around and cook dinners on late study nights or workdays. Cooking easy meals that I can put into the slow cooker such as:
- Pesto Pasta
- Spaghetti Bolognese
- Curried Sausages
- Stir Fry

Staying Active When It’s Cold Outside
Trying indoor activities to stay active such as yoga, pilates, home workouts or going to the gym. Joining a local gym or fitness studio and moving your body during the wintertime can be good for your mental health. If you live in a rainy place like beautiful Port Macquarie, a daily stretch session or dancing around your lounge room can help keep your motivated and feeling your best throughout the cold season.

Finding Indoor Hobbies & Activities
Winter is the best time to try a new hobby or retry an old one. When it’s too cold or wet to go outside for long periods outdoors, finding activities that you might like ad trying something new.
Some of my favourite indoor hobbies include:
- Reading a new book
- Baking new things
- Making arts and crafts
- Having a night spent with friends
- Puzzles and board games
- Journalling or setting personal goals
- Trying a new hobby

Winter Fashion Hacks
Staying warm in winter is essential. Layering is an easy way to stay comfortable and warm at the same time. You can always remove layers if you are feeling too hot. Some of my biggest winter fashion tips include:
- Wearing singlets under shirts or thermals
- Layering outfits with cardigans and jumpers
- Invest in a Kathmandu jacket! They are the best!!!
- Make sure to buy a beanie, gloves and scarf for the extra chilly mornings
- Acquire a variety of winter clothes to mix and match
Prioritise your Wellbeing
Winter can be a sad and dreary season for our mental health. We should all prioritise our mental health every day!
- Getting enough sleep is vital, drinking at least 2 litres of water everyday to feel good.
- Eating fulfilling meals for your body and soul with a mix of veg and meats.
- Spending essential precious time with family is important to keep human connection during uni chaos.
- Move your body! Nothing is better for our whole body than moving to feed the soul, body and mind.
Reminder to look after yourself this winter!
