Unfortunately, the days of being young enough to go trick-or-treating are long gone. But why should that stop us from having fun, eating far too much sugar and spending Halloween with our friends? Just because we’re at university, doesn’t mean we have to outgrow Halloween. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up, get creative and make some fun memories with your friends. Whether you’re looking for a big night out or a cosy night in, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween as a uni student.

Throw a Halloween party:

Halloween is the perfect excuse to throw a party, see friends you haven’t seen in a while and consume insane amounts of sugar. Decorate your place with fake cobwebs and candles in an attempt to turn it into a haunted house. Of course, no Halloween party is complete without costumes, whether they are scary, random or fun.

Have a Halloween movie marathon:

Not everyone wants to spend Halloween partying, and that’s okay! Sometimes, the best way to spend Halloween is to stay home with friends, get cosy and watch horror movies together – after all, horror movies are definitely more fun with friends.

Get creative with your costumes:

Have a DIY costume competition with your friends. Whether you repurpose items from home or go to an op shop, see who can come up with the most creative costume. It’s a great way to repurpose old items and be more sustainable.

Have a Halloween bake-off:

Make Halloween-themed biscuits, cupcakes and other baked goods, then hold a competition to see who can come up with the most creative treats.

Host a Halloween games night:

Solve a murder mystery with your friends.

Go to a Halloween event:

See what’s on in your local area, head out and have some fun. You may find themed nights at pubs. These events are a great excuse to show off your costume.

Hold a pumpkin carving competition:

This one is pretty self-explanatory, but carving pumpkins can be pretty fun. Get creative and carve something fun (maybe even something Halloween-themed, like a zombie). Light candles and place them behind the pumpkins to create a glowing display in the dark.

There are so many different ways to celebrate Halloween. Whether you spend the night partying, watching horror movies, eating lollies or hanging out with your friends, Halloween is a great excuse to take a break from uni life and enjoy yourself.
