Uni life can be super busy especially when you have a full load of classes or placement! Making sure you eat a balanced diet is essential in maintaining energy throughout the day – helping you focus and not plumet.
Sometimes deciding what to pack for lunch can be exhausting, you might not know what to make, can’t be bothered, or stressed about the cost.
In reality prepping your lunches and snacks is so much cheaper than regularly buying snacks and lunches out.
For me, I like bringing a filling lunch, then accompany it with some snacks! Preparing my food the night before is so helpful as I like a sleep in and run out of time in the morning – and as a student on placement I really can’t afford to be buying lunch out regularly.
Here is a list of some snacks and lunches I have made whilst on placement that are tasty, budget friendly, and fill you up!
Lunches
Pasta salad – with tomatoes, pesto, capsicum, spinach, olives, onion

Quinoa salad – with sweet potato, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, fetta and shallots.

Chicken Caesar wraps – chicken schnitzel, Caesar dressing, lettuce, parmesan, cucumber and egg.
Sweet potato wraps – mixed leaves, cucumber, olives and cherry tomatoes.
Stir-fry – chicken, broccoli, capsicum, soy sauce and sesame oil.
Rice paper rolls – chicken, noodles, cucumber and carrot.

Salad sandwich – mixed leaves, tomato, cucumber and whole grain bread (optional: chicken, tuna, ham, cheese, chickpeas).
Tuna salad – mixed leaves, tomato, cucumber, carrot and tinned tuna (try flavoured varieties to mix it up).
Snacks:
- Banana
- Fruit salad (grapes, blueberries, strawberries)
- Yogurt
- Carrots and hummus
- Woolworths or Coles brand popcorn (You can get a bag of 10 for about $2 or $3)
- Rice cakes
- Saladas with vegemite
- Cheese and crackers
- Nuts
- Muesli bar

*Prepping a batch of something that can last you 2-3 days is super helpful, it saves you time and money which are both so valuable, especially if you are on placement
