It all started during Orientation week, amongst the chaos of all the icebreakers, meeting new people and trying not to get lost, I was not expecting to meet anyone special, yet, along came Charlie.

Charlie and I met at one of the Orientation activities, the scavenger hunt around campus. Charlie was making conversation with me the whole time, I however, was more focused on winning the scavenger hunt.
Towards the end of the scavenger hunt, we added each other on Snapchat and we actually started talking more regularly. Later that week, was the university’s famous ‘Dag nite’ where you dress as ridiculous as you can (essentially like a dag).
Late into the night, Charlie and myself were talking in a big group of people and we had both decided we were ready to end our night there. This is when Charlie offered to drive us to get McFlurrys from McDonald’s, so we did exactly that and then went for a drive. He gave me his hoodie too because I was cold.

From there, Charlie and I would hang out at each other everyday and chat for hours. One night we both admitted that we had feelings for each other, which was strange because I hadn’t gone into university looking for anyone special, and yet here I was, developing feelings for someone I’d met only a few weeks ago. But it was clear that we had this effortless connection, and that made it easy to spend time together.
A few nights later, we were hanging out at my dorm when he asked me out on a date and of course I said yes. We went to Mayfield gardens in Oberon for lunch and it was very sweet. I pulled out my polaroid and took a photo of him when he took the photo from me and scribbled something on it… “Will you be my girlfriend?”.
I remember thinking how sweet and unique it was and said “Yes.” straight away.
Jumping forward to the present…

Charlie and I have been dating for almost 2 years now and it’s been an amazing 2 years. We are both entering our 3rd year of our University courses and we both play for Charles Sturt University Football Club and I’m so excited for what’s to come. Him and I share such a good connection and looking back now I reflect on every moment and experience we’ve shared, and how much we’ve grown as a couple.
