Traveling while studying has been one of the most meaningful parts of my educational journey as I thought studying was mainly about deadlines, lectures, and assignments, however, studying abroad showed me that learning can happen anywhere, sometimes in the most unexpected places.

One of the most impactful moments and highlights of studying aboard for me, was attending Cambridge University as part of the study abroad program hosted by Charles Sturt University. Walking into the Cambridge campus felt surreal as I remember walking through historic courtyards, surrounded by buildings that have shaped centuries of knowledge. The experience made me reflect on how privileged I was to learn in an environment so rich in history and academic excellence. Studying abroad was a powerful reminder that learning is global, and ideas are enriched when shared across cultures.

Even though I was only studying abroad for two weeks, being away from home challenged me in ways I didn’t expect, as I had ventured overseas on my own and didn’t know what I was about to embark on and I knew I had to adapt quickly, academically, socially, and personally. Managing my studies while navigating a new country taught me independence, confidence, and resilience. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed. but these moments pushed me to grow, and I learned how to manage my time better, step outside my comfort zone, and trust myself.

Beyond academics, studying abroad created unforgettable memories, exploring nearby cities, experiencing local traditions, and forming connections with people from all over the world. These experiences added depth to my studies and gave me a real-world context to what I was learning.
As I reflect on studying abroad, the overall experience did not distract me from absorbing new learnings, and I would pursue another study abroad opportunity in a heartbeat. My experience at Cambridge University taught me that learning is not limited to one place, and is shaped by experiences, people, and the courage to explore beyond what feels familiar.

If you are also considering travelling while studying, I strongly encourage you to take the leap as I believe studying abroad enriches your overall experience and the memories, self-growth, confidence and perspectives you gain are life changing.
