If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience as a student at Charles Sturt University, Uni Nationals is something you need to add to your bucket list. As a mixed-mode student from Temora studying through the Wagga Wagga campus, Uni Nationals has been one of the most rewarding opportunities of my university journey.

In 2024, Uni Nationals took place in Canberra, and I competed in the Women’s Touch Football. Representing Charles Sturt on a national stage alongside students from across Australia was such a privilege. Competing in September during peak study season may sound daunting, but balancing training, assignments, and this event was well worth the effort.

My team had a unique dynamic. Many of us had never played together before, which is common for a university with students from various campuses and modes of study. But that’s what makes Uni Nationals so special, sport brings people together. By the end of the competition, we were more than teammates; we had formed lifelong friendships.

Our hard work and dedication paid off in a big way. We not only competed but also made history, winning Charles Sturts first-ever gold medal in Division 1 Touch Football! As one of only four returning players from last year’s team that placed third, I felt proud to use my experience to help guide our new players to success.

Uni Nationals is about more than just sport—it’s about community. Beyond my own team, I cheered for our Mixed Touch Football team and other Charles Sturt squads, from Netball to Rugby 7s to Water polo. Watching other teams succeed and feeling the collective CSU spirit reminded me why events like these are so meaningful.

For me, Uni Nationals isn’t just about medals or games (but that part is great!!). It’s about representing our university with pride, building life-long friendships, and inspiring others to take part. As a Bachelor of K-12 Education (PDHPE) student, my goal has always been to encourage others to stay active and involved, and Uni Nationals gave me the perfect platform to do just that.

So, if you’re considering Uni Nationals 2025, don’t hesitate. Whether you’re an elite athlete or just looking for a new experience, this is your chance to compete, connect, and create memories you’ll carry long after graduation. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be part of CSU’s next big win!

Expressions of interest are now open for teams for Uni Nationals 2025.
