Third year student Angie Molyneaux has been recognised for her passion within the agricultural industry after receiving the celebrated Agrifutures Horizon Scholarship for 2020.
Miss Molyneaux was one of 14 recipients and the only student named from Charles Sturt University.
The Agrifutures scholarship is awarded to students studying an agriculture-related degree with relevant majors aligning within the industry.
The award provides its scholars with a substantial $10,000 to complete their university studies and is funded by diverse industry sponsors including the Grains Research and Development Corporation.
Miss Molyneaux expresses her appreciation and claims that she is humbled to have received the scholarship as it will assist her in following her dream of becoming an agronomist or farm business consultant.
“The Agrifutures Horizon Scholarship is such a remarkable scholarship to win as it connects you with an industry sponsor, mine being GRDC. They offer placements of my own choosing, as well as workshops and personal development training to succeed in the agricultural industry”.
The industry was previously recognised as a male-dominated trade and Molyneaux aims to encourage ladies of the land to defy this outdated notion.
“Recognising women in agriculture who are succeeding is an excellent way to expose them to potential opportunities which will allow for them to grow and progress within the industry”.
