With the summer break being here, it’s time to ditch the textbooks aside for a bit and dive into something that would take your mind off this year a bit and escape into some serious relaxation. What a way to escape the stress of uni life than by getting lost in a great book? So grab your glasses (if you need any), maybe a cold drink (you need one for sure in this sizzling heat…), and get ready to explore our (or maybe my) top picks for the summer reads. These picks are a mix of genres, just like how my mood was mixed up this year…anyway I will stop the blathering session and here are some of my favourites to keep you hooked over the break:
Someone Else’s Bucket List by Amy Mathews

I know this isn’t a good start but a tissue box might be handy for this one, as this book is about learning to live, grow and heal through grief. In saying so, the concept of bonding, warmth, family, sisterhood, willingness, second chance at love… is all there in this book.
Happy Place by Emily Henry

Emily Henry has my whole heart, each year releasing a fantastic book, and this is frantically one them! Great great great for summer, the vibes are truly unmatched.
The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

I mean did you see the author’s name? Do I need to say more? I can’t count how many Freida McFadden I have read so far, this is one of her books that I liked so much and would recommend for thriller beginners.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Great book, a bit slow for my liking to get where it’s supposed to but it got there and I believe it was worth it.
The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick
This is a delightful historical fiction book set in the 1960s, though I listened to the audiobook instead but it was a piece of cake nevertheless. All the female main characters are unique, complex and they stand out, the concept of friendship and feminism really stood out too.
The Summer Storms by Sarah MacLean

Do you want to know about rich people’s problems? No, but seriously, this book is an excellent family drama and beach read; portraying family dynamics, grief, inheritance schemes, secrets, and some romantic elements. Perfect summer read.
