Gym gets a revamp at Bathurst Campus

Row of dumbbells in Bathurst gym

If you want to get fit, be social and save dollars all at the same time then CSU’s Bathurst Campus gym is the place for you. Thanks to Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) funding you now have access to longer opening hours and new equipment so you can work out in a fun, healthy and welcoming environment.

The Bathurst Campus gym is free for all students, on campus and online, and has numerous facilities to cater for all exercise interests. From lecture rooms lined with mirrors for dance, to basketball courts interchangeable with netball, it’s got you covered.

The revamped gym space is ideal for staying healthy on-the-go and is operated by a professional team who are there to assist you. And it’s free! You just need your student card for access (no stress about a membership fee!)

A few of the latest upgrades include:

  • new weight resistance machines
  • new floor-plan for equipment to face the TV
  • fitness and motivational posters
  • lounges in the lobby area for waiting or relaxing.

Other facilities range from tennis courts, team meeting rooms, and indoor and outdoor courts. You can also use equipment including badminton and tennis racquets, balls and volleyball nets.

There’s still more good news… SSAF funds have widened the gym’s opening hours, which are now 6am to 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 4pm on weekends. Yes, the gym is now open on weekends!

Did you know fitness helps the brain’s productivity and can reduce stress levels? You don’t need to be overly fit to use the gym; fit in a quick workout before class or just enjoy the social atmosphere and you’ll leave with positive energy and a renewed mind to get back to study.

Gym supervisor, Stephen Howell, is a strong advocate for students having a balanced lifestyle and, with his motivational team of student-staff, is willing to support and help you achieve it, whether you want to de-stress and reset, or work out and push yourself.

Contact through email, phone or enquire at reception for bookings and borrowing equipment.
