While on placement, I had the opportunity to complete a mock interview, which entailed putting together my resume. I didn’t really know where to start, so I emailed my placement support team, wanting to see if they had any available resources that could help. The team pointed me in the direction of the Charles Sturt Careers Hub Portal, and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard of it! So today I want to share it with you too!
The Hub has many tips, tools, job-search resources and so much more! Let’s have a look!
Navigate the site using the top headings: Dashboard, Programs, Assessments, Advice, Tools, Jobs, Workshops & Appointments (My personal fave is Tools!).
Within Programs you can find Employability information and take a quick survey rating your confidence in different aspects of obtaining employment. I scored 68%, and looking deeper into the score, I have learnt that I can build my confidence in interviews.
Assessments: This section has 10-15-minute surveys covering different characteristics you possess, such as temperament, resilience, and stress management to help you understand your motivations, preferences, and values. All of these are valuable in helping you find a job and work culture that you will enjoy!
The Advice section has some short videos and courses to provide guidance on topics such as LinkedIn, motivations, creating a resume, plus so much more!
And my favourite section: Tools! Here you can find a resume builder, cover letter builder and interview prep. My favourite thing about the resume builder is that it saves! So I could add in my placement experiences as I went. The other cool feature is Interview360 where you can take part in mock interviews, allowing you to practise before the real thing.
I’ve touched on my favourite sections, but there is still so much more to explore to prepare us for getting a job and putting our degrees to good use!
