A SSAF Success Story

Team work and together concept, Hand of people high five for tag team

The SSAF Initiative Round has just opened and what better way to show you how your ideas can make a positive impact on the CSU community than sharing one major success story; The $1 Port Macquarie Wednesday Lunch

What is the SSAF Initiative?

SSAF projects provide services and facilities for everyone! So, whether you are on-campus or online, you can benefit from SSAF Initiatives. You have the chance to put forward your own ideas about how SSAF is spent and let CSU know what’s most important to you.

The $1 Port Macquarie Wednesday Lunch:

This idea aimed to provide an affordable lunch to all students at the Port Macquarie campus and to the wider online CSU student community. This idea to have $1 lunches once a week not only brought the CSU students of Port Macquarie together, but also gave them a safe space to eat their lunch and interact with different students. The SRC ran this initiative, purchasing and preparing the lunches weekly.
A survey was posted on the CSU Port Macquarie Facebook Page, where 100% of participants voted that they loved the lunches.

“The Wednesday Lunches are a huge part of Port Macquarie culture and provide an amazing vibrancy on campus weekly. The students love Wednesday Lunches, not only for the affordable food but for the social interaction that they get from it. The SRC have run it seamlessly for the past year and are very grateful to SSAF for allowing it to take place. I really hope we can all see it continue.”

-Ruby Simmons, Student Liaison Officer

“The Wednesday Lunches have been very popular with the international students on Port Macquarie campus. International students often struggle with finance when they come to Australia so the Wednesday Lunches have been great in not only providing them an affordable weekly lunch, but also enabling them to interact with local students, eat Australian food, and find out about what’s happening around Port Macquarie campus. It would be great to see this continue.”
– Clara Koch, International Student Liaison Officer
