Greetings everyone! My name is Dylan Piper, and I am a first-year student at Charles Sturt University and a member of the Online Student Representative Committee (Online SRC).
As a recent addition to the Online SRC I was amazed at what the Online SRC does for online students and feel honoured to be a part of it. So, let’s take a trip down memory lane on all the awesome initiatives Online SRC has done in 2025.
Online SRC is responsible for the approval of seven scholarships in total – valued at over $8,000! 4 undergraduate scholarships, 2 postgraduate scholarships and the Steven Tougher Memorial Paramedicine Scholarship specifically. Alongside these scholarships the Online SRC gave away 80 resource vouchers valued at $100 each which has been a massive help to online Charles Sturt students across Australia.
Online SRC have been keeping active in attempts to connect with online students and build a strong community. We connect with students across multiple platforms, including our Facebook page for activities like online BINGO and photo comps, our Linktree for quick access to resources, and our newly reinstated Instagram account. We work closely with the university’s Student Connection team to create vibrant activities, and we’ll continue building on this collaboration as we move into 2026.
My favourite thing to highlight that the Online SRC has done back in Session 1 (prior to my time joining the committee) was a LinkedIn learning competition where participants would complete a LinkedIn learning course and upload their certificate for a chance to win a laptop valued at $1,000! At the Online SRC we thought why not double it and give it to the next person? So we at the Online SRC are proud to present our next competition: LinkedIn Learning Competition for Session 3!
