Turning Hobbies into Opportunities

Summary:

Hobbies don’t have to be just something you do with your weekends! Olivia tells you about how she turned her hobby into an opportunity and why you should give it a go.

Written by Olivia Baker

How many times have you ever felt inspired to pursue your hobby and transform your passion into a long-term opportunity? I have, and it was the most satisfying end to end experience I made possible for myself.

Hobbies can come in all ranges of categories, from cooking, baking, gardening, embroidery, photography, painting or physical activities, the list is endless!

However, when you personally resonate with something that you enjoy doing, the feeling of joy and appreciation that accompanies the interest is utterly satisfying.

In my personal circumstances, I have a great love for makeup artistry and have been sharing this love by having the pleasure of helping other women with their makeup application for over ten years.

In my younger years as a child, I loved playing with cosmetics and in my late teenage years, I believed in myself and knew my hobby had turned into a passion for the field so therefore, I took a lead of faith, and I enrolled myself at the Napoleon Perdis Makeup Academy.

The makeup artistry course spanned over three months and covered off a major area of theory including, colour analysis, colour correcting, facial mapping, benefits of skin care, brush and blending techniques, the art of makeup application, and detailed practical work with models.

In all honesty, the course was one of the best self-development investments I undertook in myself, turning my hobby into being a qualified makeup artist, allowing me to share my passion and craft with other women. Following completion of the course, I was offered employment with Napoleon Perdis to start my journey as a qualified makeup artist which was a dream come true.

Doing makeup for client’s events

While working as a sporadic makeup artist over the past ten years, I have crossed paths with highly recognised industry professionals, have learnt exceptional methods of makeup application, the power of skincare products, and most importantly, made everlasting memories with my well-established cliental base as a freelance makeup artist #OBMakeupArtistry.

If I hadn’t taken a leap of faith and followed my passion, I wouldn’t be where I am today and would have had great regret for not listening to my inner voice and pursuing what I love doing. If you are in the same predicament where you have identified something that you love partaking in and want to get started in how you can take this love and turn it into a major self-investment, listen to your inner conscious and start your journey today.

Weather you have a love for dance, sports, cleaning  or organising, don’t let anything hold you hold you back. If you have a loving passion for a certain hobby or interest, believe in yourself and see how you can elevate your skillset to the next level.

To all readers, I hope you are inspired by my story to take your own leap of faith!
