Your graduation check-list

by Emily Minter

CSU graduation ceremonies are scheduled for 14-21 December 2015. Are you ready?!

Graduation is the most exciting time of your life. The completion of your university study signals the start of a new chapter in your life. It’s a good idea to attend your graduation ceremony, especially if you are a Distance Education student. This day gives you a chance to meet and celebrate with some of your lecturers and fellow students, and also to see your home campus. You’ve just spent several years of your life striving for this day…so make sure you attend!

Now, if you are ready to graduate there are one or two things you need to do to get ready for your special day. Read on to find out what you need to do…

1. Check that all you details are correct in Online Administration
Make sure your contact, personal and course details are all correct. And make sure your name is spelt correctly…this will be printed on your testamur and transcript. If any of your details are not correct find out how you can change them via AskCSU or contact Student Central.

2. Make sure you’re eligible to graduate
The next thing you need to do is make sure you’re actually ready to graduate. Normally Student Administration will contact you if you are ready, but if you haven’t received a message from them, and you think you are eligible, contact Student Central. They will let you know of any outstanding fees or grades that might make you ineligible.

If you’re ready, you are now a graduand – eligible for graduation.

3. Check your ceremony details
Your graduation email will let you know the date and time of your graduation ceremony. So make sure you read it thoroughly and plan accordingly.

4. Submit your application to graduate
You must submit your application in order to graduate. The closing date for application submission is 16 October 2015. Now, your final grades will not be released by then, but don’t wait to apply as you won’t be able to defer your graduation to a later year.

Make sure you let CSU know if you aren’t attending the ceremony, or if you want to attend at a CSU campus other than your home campus.

5. Pay for the graduation package
Once you’ve applied you can hire your 2015 graduation package. This includes hire of full academic dress, two programs, up to three guest tickets and some light refreshments after the ceremony.
It is important you pay for your package before the ceremony so your gown and guest tickets can be reserved for you.

6. Pay any outstanding fees
The last thing you need to do is to pay any owing fees. Make sure you pay all outstanding fees before your grades are finalised. You won’t be able to graduate unless you have paid all your fees.

If you need more information about graduation contact Student Central, Ask CSU or have a chat with your course coordinator.

Enjoy your graduation!
