My journey with LinkedIn Learning

Want to build soft skills for your future career?

While being at uni, I am also seeking opportunities to improve my soft skills – including personal and technical skills – to help me land my dream job when I graduate!

You might have heard about using LinkedIn to network. Though with the new LinkedIn Learning feature, you can also learn skills to help with your current studies and boost your employability.

So over the next session, I am going to embark on a journey to increase my skills and see how LinkedIn Learning can help my future career.

Benefits for your studies and future careers

As a journalism student, a good skill for me is being able to record and edit strong news packages. So, taking on a course to learn about Adobe Premiere Pro has boosted my video-making and editing skills.

As you gain skills, you can add them to your LinkedIn profile to expand your employability. LinkedIn Learning also recommends learning paths based on your interests, skills and the courses you’ve already completed.

Plus, you can learn at your own pace – anywhere, anytime. It is bite-sized learning, so you can put together your own learning program that fits into uni and work life.

How to join and get started with LinkedIn Learning

Joining is pretty simple – all you need is your Charles Sturt University login details.

While you don’t need a personal LinkedIn account to access LinkedIn Learning, I would recommend making one alongside to have the best of both worlds. It took me only 10 minutes to make both!

Once you’re in, do some exploring and look at all the courses that are available. Find what you may be interested in – whether it’s business, technology, creative or even leadership courses.

Once you choose your courses, link it to your LinkedIn profile from which the rest of the world can see what your skills and strengths are for potential jobs.

Then, the path you choose is up to you. So, sign up and see where your learning can take you!
