A day in the life as an Occupational Therapy student.
Hi, I’m Chloe a third-year student studying a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at the Port Macquarie campus. Let me take you through a typical day in my life as an OT student.
Honestly, no two days are the same, and they’re often pretty busy. To stay on top of everything, I try to make sure I incorporate exercise, a social or self-care activity, and study into my day. Over time, I’ve realized that maintaining this balance helps me avoid feeling overwhelmed or experiencing academic burnout.
Wednesdays are usually my busiest days, so I like to start my day doing physical activity, this may be a gym session, a walk, or attending the CSU run club along town beach break wall – it’s a great way to start the day with a beautiful sunrise, a coffee, a swim and it provides a nice social aspect.

7 am – 9am: Starting the Day
- On this particular Wednesday I started my day off with a step class at the gym, I then headed to the library and briefly looked at some content before class while filling up on some yogurt and fruit for breakfast.

9 am – 11:30am: OCC304 Tutorial
- In this class we consolidated in our groups and identified how the class content was relative to our upcoming group assignment. We discussed the importance of the social determinants within different community settings and how this relates to our future practice as occupational therapists.
11:30 am – 12:30pm: Break

- During this time I enjoyed some lunch with a friend. The university has so many great outdoor spaces, so we sat outside and took the time to relax and enjoy the fresh air.
12:30pm – 2:30pm: OCC300 Tutorial
- In this class we looked at content relevant to our upcoming exams and highlighting the importance of utilising quality resources when gathering evidence-based information.
2:30pm – 4pm: Chill Out
- The long morning definitely caught up with me, I went home and watched an episode or two of Gilmore girls to wind down.
4pm – 5:30pm: Study
- Worked on my assignments and study for upcoming exams
5:30pm – 6pm: Clean Up
- Tidied up the house before my friends came over.
6pm – 9pm: Winding down with friends

- I had some friends over, joined by my roommates, we cooked and ate dinner together, we had stir-fry and it was super yum! We all then sat down on the couch and played a bunch of board games.
9pm – 9:30pm: Time for Bed
- Had a shower, brushed my teeth and went to bed.
