Spring cleaning tips and tricks

by Loren Howarth

Now that spring is in the air, it’s a great time to do some cleaning and de-cluttering. This tradition not only promotes wellness by establishing a clean and organised environment, it also creates a nice and fresh feeling heading into summer. Here are some of our top tips and tricks to help make your home or room, sparkle all year round!

Use newspaper to clean dirty windows and mirrors

For streak-free windows and mirrors, mix 1/4 cup white vinegar, 2 cups water, and 2 teaspoons of liquid soap into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto the glass and scrub with the newspaper. This is such a cheap method that delivers great results!

Stack your spring/summer clothes vertically

For easier access to your clothes and to avoid making a mess every time, unpack your wardrobe and start from scratch. Instead of putting away folded clothes flat, stack them vertically.

Use socks as dusting mitts

Cotton is a fantastic fabric for trapping dust particles! Grab a clean pair of socks you no longer wear and use them as dust mitts to have more control over where the dust goes.

Clean under furniture and appliances

Over time, dust will gather under furniture and appliances. So while you’re already cleaning, there’s no better time to move things around and away from walls as much as possible, to give the floors a good vacuum.

Grab some boxes and get organised

Time to de-clutter! However, this process can be overwhelming, so equip yourself with a few boxes and label them before you get started. A box for a garage sale, one for donations, and a garbage bag for items to dispose of is a good place to start. This will also help you to put items in their rightful places.

Flip your bedroom

Rotate and flip your mattress, wash blankets and comforters, and wash any rugs to give your room a nice and fresh feeling.

Don’t forget to crank up the tunes, cleaning can be a bit of fun!
