During the first week back of session two at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, students were invited to attend a night out at Rafters Bar hosting the fitting theme of ‘Christmas in July’.
Despite the cold weather and rain there was endless Christmas spirit amongst those who joined in the festivities, proving that even unpredictable weather doesn’t stand in the way of a good cause, and a good night. Run by the CRA (Combined Residential Association), ‘Christmas in July’ was a huge success with over 600 people attending and all proceeds going to newly established organisation Trekking4Nepal.
The final total of funds raised on the night was over $2000, a huge feat for students across the Bathurst campus and edging Trekking4Nepal that little bit closer to their final target of $85,000.
After the devastating earthquakes struck Nepal, resulting in in the loss of 8,000 lives, 160,786 houses and 1383 schools across 26 districts, founder of the organisation (James Tatham, a former CSU Student) was determined to do something to help rebuild the beautiful country he had only recently trekked through.
James, and the team at Trekking4Nepal have been amazed at the support they have received from CSU.
