It can be tough to motivate yourself to get off the couch and into the book, not to mention studying around others! The distractions can leave you feeling unproductive and overall pretty bummed out.
But fear not! Use these tips to have that study cap on in no time, meaning you can achieve all of your goals without isolating yourself from the world.
1. Choose Your “Spot”
Whether it’s the library or a communal lab space, finding the right spot to get your work done is crucial. If you know the peek hours, try and get there when it isn’t quite as busy so you aren’t limited to the crowded spaces. This already eliminates an element of stress!
2. Plan Ahead
Write out a strategic study plan before arriving so you know exactly what you need to get done and when you’d like it to be finished. Then there’s less chance of being distracted and unorganised!
3. Pick a Crew
If you’re going to be studying around others, why not choose a small group that you know will motivate you to get your work done. Try and avoid your louder and more distracting friends- choose people know you can work well with!
4. Calm Your Nerves
When the space isn’t as quiet as you’d like it to be, consider taking steps to calming yourself down. I’ve found hot drinks like tea help me stay focused on my tasks that need to be done.
5. Cancel the Noise
Whether it’s noise cancelling headphones, or just listening to music in general, you’re able to take away that element of distraction. This might not be for everyone, but if you can study productively with some quiet music playing, then by all means go for it! A little tip … anything Mozart.
