A sea of red to celebrate CSU

CSU will celebrate its past, present and future on its annual Foundation Day on Wednesday 19 July.

As part of the celebrations, a series of activities will be held across the University.

Staff, students and alumni are encouraged to wear red and join in the celebrations in person or online by using the #celebrateCSU hashtag.

The activities range from a Foundation Day concert with bands the Hoodoo Gurus and You Am I, to an art exhibition, a bake-off, morning teas, lunches, a ball, a trivia night, and even a chilli eating competition.

Foundation Day is celebrated annually on the Wednesday of the week following 19 July. It marks the establishment of the University on 19 July 1989 when the Charles Sturt University Act was signed.

CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann said, “Foundation Day is about bringing the Charles Sturt University community together in celebration of our rich history.

“It is a time to be proud of who we are and of our ethos yindyamarra winhanganha, which is Wiradjuri for ‘the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in’.

“Though our teaching and research, Charles Sturt University is about developing and spreading wisdom to help our communities flourish and to make the world a better place.

“Foundation Day is also an opportunity to bring to life the University’s four values – insightfulness, inclusiveness, impactful and inspiring.”

During Foundation Day, activities will be held to raise money for a number of worthwhile causes including student scholarships through CSUgive, Make a Wish Foundation, and the McGrath Foundation.
