Generous students show passion for giving

Uni students aren’t exactly known for being flush with cash, but we’re a generous bunch making a real impact at CSU.

A ball at Port Macquarie recently was the latest in a string of fundraising activities, this time contributing funds to a scholarship for Paramedic students.

The Jacob Berry Memorial Scholarship pays tribute to CSU graduate Jacob Berry, who passed away in an accident overseas not long after completing the Bachelor of Clinical Practice (Paramedic).

Organisers turned Rydges Port Macquarie into a beachside paradise, decked out with beach balls and deck chairs.

Ticket sales, an artwork auction and raffle all contributed to fundraising efforts, with an impressive $25,000 now banked towards the scholarship.

The Jacob Berry Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to help a future Paramedic student achieve their dreams.

CSU students have long been known for making a difference to their communities.

In 2016, students raised more than $120,000 for numerous local charities and organisations through all types of events – from cake stalls, charity sporting matches, posing for calendars and more!

Their efforts have continued this year, including turning O Week pink in support of the McGrath Foundation.

You can also support CSU’s fundraising efforts this Foundation Day.

The Hoodoo Gurus and You Am I will perform at the Crow Bar at Wagga Wagga Campus for a Foundation Day concert on Saturday 15 July, with profits going to the McGrath Foundation. Tickets are still available.

You can also check out some CSU staff and student identities having their legs, back, chest or eyebrows waxed on Foundation Day at Bathurst Campus on 19 July, or at the Foundation Day Carnival at Wagga Wagga Campus on 21 July. Come along to support the fun or make a donation to CSU’s Wax for a Wish team.
