What to look forward to in O Week

It’s almost time for your new adventure at university. And O Week is a fun-filled week to kick start your newest journey at Charles Sturt University. It’s also a good opportunity to make some new friends.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, here are a few things to look forward to during O Week.

New place

It’s a big change – moving away from home. But it’s also an adventure. Your weekends will be filled exploring your surroundings and hitting all the ‘go to’ hot spots with your new friends.

New faces

A new place brings new people. In O Week you’ll meet new people of similar interests and make some life-long friends. Everyone is in the same boat, so don’t be afraid to introduce yourself and get involved in the activities.

O Week leaders

O Week leaders are an amazing group of people that can be found in pink shirts (they can’t be missed). They’ll get you checked into your accommodation (if you’re living on campus) and answer any questions you have to make sure you have the best time possible.

These guys also assist in organising all of the events and guided tours throughout the week, so if you feel a little lost or anxious, a leader won’t be far away.

Residential advisor (RA)

If you’re living on campus, you’ll be introduced to your Residential Advisor. This person will help you throughout the year on all things uni, and also during O Week. They run activities to help you meet the people you’ll be living with.

Events

A great way to meet people during O Week is to attend the night events. Most of these are held at your uni bar. Expect fun themes, and be prepared to dress up in crazy costumes. Find your O Week program on the CSU website.

Class meetings

Although O Week is the time to have fun and meet new people, it’s also a good time to get organised for your upcoming classes. On your O Week program you’ll find class meetings throughout the week where you’ll meet your lecturers’ and learn how classes are run. It’s important to attend these meetings because it’ll make your first week of class a breeze.

Online students

If you’re an online student, O Week sessions run online too. You’ll find the information about Online O Week on the O Week page.
