Student Heart Project wins NSW Volunteer of the Year Award

Daniel Steinbeck from CSU's Student Heart Project

Congratulations is in order to our Bachelor of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) student and co-creator of the Student Heart Project, Daniel Steinbeck, who received NSW Volunteer of the Year. What an achievement!

We caught up with Daniel earlier this year to find out about the Student Heart Project that he and two other students are involved in. If you didn’t see our last article , the project is a non-government fundraising initiative to emphasise the importance of early defibrillation in the event of cardiac arrest. The students hope to make the community aware of what we can all do to help if anyone finds themselves in a situation when they may need help.

Since speaking with Daniel, the project has provided the Port Macquarie and Hastings region seven Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs). The funds were raised by community events such as trivia nights and last year’s Red and Blue Ball, which will run again in 2016.

This year’s Red and Blue Ball is set to impress with a photo-booth, games, band, photographer, sit-down meal and bar for the night. Check out The Student Heart Project on Facebook to get more details of the event if you wish to attend, and purchase your ticket to support a great cause.
