The results are in and CSU’s 2016-17 student representative committee (SRC) elections have made history with the election of Australia’s very first SRC dedicated to online study. In another first, the nomination process and election of all SRC bodies was held entirely online.
The Online Study student representatives will be able to share ideas specifically aimed at improving the online study experience. It’s a really important step, considering CSU has more than 20,000 students who are completing their degrees via CSU Online.
Anna Stanford, from Dubbo, is studying a Bachelor of Accounting through CSU Online and joins 10 other postgraduate and undergraduate students across a range of disciplines on the inaugural Online Study SRC for 2016-17.
Anna says she put her name forward in a bid to help other online students with any issues.
“I’d also like to be able to notify students studying online of the on-campus activities that are happening at CSU and let them know that they’re allowed to attend them.
“I think the new SRC dedicated to online students is a great initiative as more students will be able to have their say. I am hoping that this term, the SRC will be able to raise awareness of its existence.”
In addition to the new Online Study SRC, new representatives have been elected for the SRCs on all CSU campuses, including Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga.

Setting a new agenda
The first tasks for the new SRCs will be to elect executive positions (President, Treasurer and Secretary), plan for the year ahead, and review ideas students have put forward.
Throughout the year, the SRC will make representations on behalf of the student body and work on activities, events and ideas that will make student life at CSU even better.

Your SRC is here to represent you. If you’ve got a great idea – no matter how big or small – you can get the SRC to raise it for you.
The SRCs discuss issues raised by students and work on developing solutions to student problems. They have the right connections at CSU to make things happen.
